Essentially the terahertz range transport is the "next big thing" in wireless communications, not only because of the high speed achieved but also because all frequencies are available worldwide. The project manager believes that over the next ten years all products will use related terahertz technology.

This new pattern will differ from previous versions since it will operate at frequencies between 2.65GHz and 3.7GHz, giving consumers more opportunities to avoid interference with other more "dense" frequencies.

The 802.11-2012 will also be output to 600Mbps for the modification of components PHY (physical layer) and MAC (software layer). These changes will also allow other additions such as "mesh" networking, direct-link setup, changes to security, broadcast / multicast / unicast data delivery and other additional network management features.
