Intel plans to reach up to 5nm in the manufacture of processors



New slides that were revealed during the annual conference of investors Intel revealed an ambitious plan for the company. Specifically, Intel intends to shorten the production process up to 5nm of processors while the first chip built on 10nm expected in 2015. Recall that the current generation of processors Ivy Bridge is built in 22nm.

The CEO of Intel, Paul Otellini, said the company's leadership in the rapid development of smaller processors than its competitors because of the approximately $ 2 billion a year investment in research and development and approximately 1.900 in PhD graduates working in the company. Intel has already started manufacturing facilities in three locations to produce the next generation 14nm expected next year.
