You thought that your site receives many hits daily from people? Perhaps, you should lower your expectations as new research shows that only 49 percent of total visits from real people. The rest; Bots!
The company Incapsula conducted research and found that 51 percent of visits to websites from bots, visitors that automated.
The figure includes the traffic coming from search engines that reaches up to 20 percent. The remaining 31 percent, the company claims that they have to attack sites in different ways.
Specifically, the five percent comes from directly hacking attempt that attempt to install malware programs to steal credit card roundtrips. Another five percent comes from "scrapers" who try to copy the content from websites. Another two percent from spam bots texts and comment in forums.
The final 19 percent on a spyware, which for example can check a website for changes to be contacted competitive pages.
The study included a total of 1.000 pages which are clients of Incapsula with an average monthly number of visits between 50.000 and 100.000.
