Good news for worldwide gamers, since according to recent research action video games not only does not impair vision, but in some cases can prove it beneficial.
In a test conducted at McMaster University in Canada has been awarded to six young people born with cataracts (congenital cataract) to play the popular first-person shooter game 'Medal of Honor' for 40 hours in a month. Patients had to play 5 days a week and a maximum of 2 hours, otherwise they could be addicted.
The results showed that after 40 hours of gameplay, 5 to 6 patients had significant improvement in vision. Specifically, persons could distinguish more easily, identify the direction of motion and to read smaller letters than before.
One possible explanation is that the Medal of Honor but most games require quick action of the players respond to what happens and follow objects moving in different directions. Moreover, increasing levels of dopamine and adrenaline, making the brain more active.
This is not the first time that some research shows the positive side of gaming. Previous studies have shown that video games can treat amblyopia and enhance children's creativity.
