Yesterday, Panasonic announced a partnership with NHK to produce a plasma 145-inch screen with a resolution of 8K (7680 x 4320) - with the name "Super Hi-Vision" in Japan. The screen is the first in the world with 8K resolution that does not need backlight, but the largest ever built.
The two companies say they have developed a new method that avoids the high resolution screen to "flicker" and kept constant. NHK plans to present the new screen open house at the NHK Science and Research Laboratory in May.
