BrailleTouch, text messages typing applicationon smartphones for the blind! [Video]


A few months ago we saw the efforts of scientists to develop an application to easily manage smartphones and tablets by blind or visually impaired people.






This seems to have managed to do now researchers Georgia Institute of Technology with the creation of the application BrailleTouch. The application builds on palpation and elevated dot Braille allows blind people to type and send text messages from any touchscreen device.




H BrailleTouch application puts three buttons on each side of the phone (right and left) representing the six dots of the Braille code for the English alphabet.


Regardless of how the device keeps the user, the buttons are aligned automatically, and as you type, the application reads each character. According to the researchers, the user can enter up to 32 words per minute with accuracy of 92%.
